Heat Detectors
|
The F220 Series Heat Detectors include models that address two different temperature points: +135°F (+57°C) and +190°F (+88°C). An electronic rate-of-rise, fixed temperature heat detector initiates an alarm if it senses a marked increase in temperature and/or when the ambient temperature reaches the designated limits. When mounted to the appropriate F220-B6 Series Mounting Base, the F220 Series Heat Detectors provide general property protection from fire. Heat detectors are not life safety devices. Use smoke detectors to protect personnel.
F220 Series Heat Detectors
- Two- or four-wire bases
- Can be used with 12 VDC or 24 VDC systems
- 50 ft (15.2 m) spacing
- Tamper protection
- Dual color LED

These detectors are appropriate for indoor confined areas where a fire increases air temperature slowly and substantially before the fire breaks confinement, such as furnace rooms, closets, bathrooms, and other confined areas. Heat detectors are intended for fire detection to protect property only. Use smoke detectors to protect personnel.
Use models D603 or D604 (response rated at 135°F [57°C]) in areas where the ambient temperatures do not exceed 100°F (38°C). Use the D605 (response rated at 190°F [88°C]) in areas where the ambient temperatures exceed 100°F (38°C) but are less than 150°F (66°C). The D603 incorporates a rate-of-rise feature that signals an alarm when it senses a temperature increase greater than 15°F (8.3°C) per minute. When properly installed using the D200 Series bases, tamper protection is provided by in/out wiring of the positive power line, which causes the control panel to initiate a trouble signal when a detector is removed from its base. Supervision of two-wire systems is provided by the master control. Four-wire system supervision is provided by an end-of-line (EOL) power supervision device such as a D275, or a D293E with an EOL resistor as specified by the control panel manufacturer.
D603/D604/D605 Heat Detector Heads
- 12 VDC or 24 VDC operation
- Mounts on D200 Series bases
- Interchangeable two-and four-wire bases
- Easy head removal for cleaning and servicing

Use these detectors for indoor confined areas where a fire increases air temperature slowly and substantially before the fire breaks confinement, such as furnace rooms, closets, bathrooms, and other confined areas. Heat detectors are intended for fire detection to protect property only. Use smoke detectors to protect personnel.
Use model D254 (response-rated at 135°F [57°C]) in areas where the ambient temperatures do not exceed 100°F (38°C). Use model D255 (response-rated at 190°F [88°C]) in areas where the ambient temperatures do not exceed 150°F (66°C). The D254 and D255 Fixed Temperature Heat Detectors operate in 12 and 24 VDC detection circuits using a variety of Bosch detector bases. A latching steady-on LED is available when these heads are used with the D253 24 VDC base or the D271S 12 VDC base.
D254 (135°F[57°C]) and D255 (190°F [88°C]) Fixed-temperature Heat Detector Heads
- Mounts on low profile six-inch diameter base
- Easy head removal for cleaning and servicing
- Optional latching alarm LED
- Tamper-resistant locking base
- Smooth ceiling rating of 2500 ft2 (232 m2)
- Mechanical heat sensor
