The F220-P Series Photoelectric Smoke Detectors scatter light using a pulsed infrared source operating with a gated, high-speed, photodiode infrared sensor. The symmetry of the optical chamber allows 360° uniform smoke entry while it minimizes external light entry. By using low-current electronic circuitry, these detectors can be connected to a wide range of power source circuits.

The Model F220-PTH adds a heat sensor option. As a temperature rise is detected, the photoelectric chamber becomes more sensitive. The heat sensor can also initiate an alarm if the ambient temperature exceeds +135°F (+57°C). The Model F220-PTHC includes both heat and carbon monoxide sensors.

All three models are UL Listed, open-area photoelectric smoke detectors designed for use with commercial fire protective signaling systems and household fire warning systems (see NFPA 72, the National Fire Alarm Code). Head only; needs base.

The D263 and D273 Series Smoke Detectors are UL Listed and work with commercial fire protective signaling and household fire warning systems. All models detect smoke particles produced during wood, paper, and fabric combustion.

During a fire, smoke particles reflect light onto the photodiode of the D263 Series models. When the photodiode measurements exceed the alarm threshold, the detector signals an alarm condition. After the alarm condition clears, interrupt power at the control panel to reset the detector.

The D273 Series Detector models use an infrared (IR) LED light source and a silicon photodiode to measure light in a chamber. A fine screen covers the chamber to reduce dust accumulation, deter insects, and reduce nuisance alarms.

D263 Series Photoelectric Smoke and Smoke/Heat Detectors

  • 12 V or 24 V input
  • Designed for commercial or residential use
  • Light emitting diodes (LEDs) indicate the status of the chamber, power, and alarm
  • Removable terminal block to simplify wiring connections
  • Cable connection point for voltmeter sensitivity test
  • Trim Plate TP280 for retrofit and remodeling purposes

D273 Series Photoelectric Smoke and Smoke Heat Detectors
All of the above features plus

  • 12 VDC or 24 VDC input
  • Four-wire applications

The D285 and D285TH detector heads sense the large smoke particles that typically result from wood, paper, and fabric combustion. The D285TH smoke detector also has a +135°F (+57°C) fixed temperature heat sensor. Use these models in areas where the ambient temperature does not exceed +100°F (+38°C). These detectors are compatible with 2- or 4-wire, 12 VDC or 24 VDC circuits. Addressable bases for use on the POPEX bus are also available.

D285 Series Photoelectric Smoke Detector Heads (12/24 VDC)

  • Modular design
  • Commercial or residential applications
  • Two-wire or four-wire application, depending on base
  • Chamber Check® rapid-flash LED sends contaminated chamber reports
  • Flashing LED power indicator
  • Steady-on LED alarm indicator

The D286 Ionization Smoke Detector employs the ionization principle to identify smoke. When air enters the detector's internal sensing chamber, it becomes ionized. Once ionized, the air becomes conductive, allowing an electrical current to flow between two charged electrodes within the sensing chamber. If smoke enters the chamber, smoke particles reduce the conductivity of the air, which generates an alarm when a pre-determined conductivity level is reached.

D286 Ionization Smoke Detector Head

  • Interchangeable 2-wire and 4-wire bases
  • Low operating current
  • Flashing LED power indicator, steady-on LED alarm indicator
  • Low profile design
  • 12 or 24 VDC operation
  • Designed for commercial or residential use

The D265AW Photoelectric Smoke Detector detects the large smoke particles that typically result from wood, paper, and fabric combustion. Offices, warehouses, hotels and health care facilities are environments generally specified for photoelectric detectors. This detector has two components: the detector base and the detector head. The base is permanently attached and wired to a back box. The interchangeable heads quickly detach for replacement and cleaning without affecting circuit wiring. The D265AW Detector Head attaches to the D261AW Detector Base.

D265AW Photoelectric Smoke Detector Head

  • 12 V or 24 V inputs
  • Mounts on low profile 6 in. (15 cm) base
  • Easy head removal for cleaning and servicing
  • Maintenance-free operation
  • Built in sensitivity test
  • Steady-on LED alarm indicator

The D281A Ionization Smoke Detector is UL Listed. It detects smoke particles while tolerating conditions of extreme humidity, temperature, vibration, and electromagnetic interference. Use the D281A Detector in applications such as plenum areas or raised compartments beneath floors.

The D296 and D297 Projected Beam Smoke Detectors are used in clear open structures such as arenas, atriums, auditoriums, ballrooms, churches, factories, museums, and warehouses. Each detector consists of a transmitter, a receiver, and a remote annunciation plate. Because the transmitter and receiver typically mount on the ceiling or high on walls or columns, they provide an effective and unobtrusive means of supervising public areas for fire protection. The D306 Remote Indicator Plate, included with the D296 or D297 Detector, provides a convenient means of verifying detector status. Install it anywhere within 100 ft (30 m) of the beam receiver. The D306 has LEDs to indicate normal, trouble, and alarm conditions, and test points to monitor the detector circuit.
