Mirasys SDK- Access Control Integration

Businesses always want to improve effectiveness, intelligence,
and ease of use. These demands also apply to security systems.
It is already evident that installations consisting of several
autonomous and mainly local systems (such as surveillance,
access control, or intruder alarms) are simply not enough. Users
must be able to manage and orchestrate all systems so that
they can detect, verify, and respond to any event - not only
locally but virtually anywhere without locational constraints.

Visual Verification for High-Security Access Control
A typical situation arises when someone uses an access card to enter protected premises. The security system either accepts the card and permits entrance or rejects the card and denies entrance. However, it does not know whether the cardholder is
the person to whom the card has been issued. In a critical situation, there might be a need to visually verify the person's identity. In most access control systems, pictures of cardholders are stored in the database and can be displayed when the respective card is read.

By means of system-level integration with digital surveillance, a real-time video window of the person using the card can automatically open on the same screen. The operator compares the images and decides whether entrance should be granted. This also applies to vehicle license plates in parking lots or at entrance gates.

Efficient Alarm Event Management
Mirasys SDK allows an easy and flexible configuration of alarm events. Any event generated by the access control system can initiate alarm events in the video surveillance system. This includes use of an access card, especially when the card is invalid, reported stolen, or when the user has no access to the restricted premises. The video surveillance system can respond by recording, sending video sequence to the access control system, or controlling external devices like dome cameras or a video matrix.

Easy Retrieval of Video Footage
Real-time events are completed quickly and easily using system integration. And if later investigations are required, links between multiple databases support fast and easy data retrieval. When a suspicious entry is detected on an access control report, one click of the mouse brings the video sequence to the control screen. This is accomplished without changing the user interface, consulting a map, or searching images from the video surveillance system.

Benefits of Integration
The primary benefit of integration between digital video surveillance and access control is enhanced security. The costs resulting from burglary, theft, or industrial espionage can be huge. With system integration, these operational costs decline because multiple systems are operated and managed with significantly less manual work. With a common user interface, processes are streamlined and this also leads to additional cost savings.
